A place where discovery, collaboration and imagination meet.
Breakfast Club is offered from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. every morning in the kindergarten classroom.
The Extended Day Program is offered from 12:30 to 3:20 p.m. for kindergarten half-days, and from 3:20 to 6:00 p.m. for all grades.
The purpose of Extended Day is to expand upon The Island School philosophy of providing a place beyond the regular school day where it is safe for children to risk, to learn and to dream.
There are three sessions each year. The first session runs from September through Winter Break, the second session runs from January until Spring Break, and the final session runs April through the end of the year.
Every Extended Day Program is structured with an outdoor/play component along with time for snack. The children then have several options from which to choose, from playing chess, playing basketball, taking apart and rebuilding small machines, scientific experiments, art projects, quiet reading or study time. Enrichment classes are also offered. These could include activities such as Spanish enrichment, Tae Kwon Do, fencing, learning drumming or guitar, among other options. Extended Day programs are held on campus, unless otherwise notified.
Space is available through preregistration or on a drop-in basis. The preregistration and drop-in fee for Breakfast Club is $6 per day. Breakfast is available at no extra charge. The preregistration fee for Extended Day is $8 per hour, and the drop-in fee is $10 per hour. Fees may vary for enrichment classes. Preregistration fees apply to families that register and pay for their child’s enrollment at the beginning of a term for a regular schedule of days. Preregistration fees may be paid at any point during the term with a commitment to the remainder of the term. (The fees will be prorated to the actual start date.)
Drop-in fees apply to families using the Extended Day program on an as-needed basis. Twenty-four-hour advance notice is requested. Drop-in fees are due at the time of pickup.
All program fees are nonrefundable, unless a class is cancelled due to low enrollment.
