The Island School benefits greatly from active and generous fundraising. As with most independent schools, tuition at The Island School covers only a part of the cost of educating a student. In order to keep tuition as affordable as possible, the school depends on fundraising to make up the difference between tuition income and actual cost.
The Island School's 2021-2022 Annual Report summarizes our revenue and expenses, lists our donors and gives a glimpse into daily life at our school.
The Annual Fund
What is the Annual Fund? Every year most independent schools throughout the country conduct a fundraising drive to supplement tuition, which never fully covers the cost of educating students who attend our schools. Your contribution helps to pay for teacher salaries and benefits, financial aid for students (whose families could not otherwise afford tuition), educational supplies and materials, facility maintenance, and even the electric bill.
Our Annual Fund drive kicks off in the fall.

Financial Aid
Economic diversity is a valuable component of our community. For some families, the cost of an independent school education for their children is simply beyond their means. We are, therefore, committed to maintaining a strong financial aid program in order to make it possible for these children to attend our school.
Forty-six percent of the students at The Island School receive some amount of financial aid. We are only able to provide this level of financial support to our families because of the generosity of our donors who choose to give specifically to the Financial Aid Fund.

Planned Giving
Another meaningful, yet simple, way to provide valuable financial support to the school is by including a bequest to The Island School in your will. By naming The Island School in your will, you will be making a memorable and lasting gift that will truly make a difference for every child at The Island School.
