Extended Day Assistant

Substitute Teachers

 

Extended Day Assistant

Extended Day is a free play opportunity for children at our school. The assistant helps the coordinator supervise snack time, take attendance, oversee play time and play games and/or work on craft projects with students. The Island School seeks an energetic, caring and personable Extended Day Assistant to work:

    • Mondays from 1:45-5pm
    • Tuesdays – Thursdays from 3-5pm
    • Fridays from 4-5pm
    • Six conference/teacher work days (November 8 from 12-4pm, November 9 from 9am-4pm, January 16 from 9am-4pm, April 22 from 9am-4pm, April 23 from 12pm-4pm and May 28 from 9am-4pm).
    • This position is hourly and averages 11.5 hours per week.
  • We are open to splitting this position among multiple people.

Qualifications 

  • Experience working with elementary-aged children.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience working effectively in a team environment.
  • A passion and dedication to nurturing and celebrating children.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Extended Assistant position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the Extended Day Coordinator
  • Gather supplies and materials at the instruction of the Extended Day Coordinator
  • Supervise children
    • at play on The Island School campus
    • while eating snacks
    • completing projects

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $22.

Substitute Teachers

The Island School seeks substitute teachers and substitute teaching assistants to support teaching and learning in our small elementary school classes. The individual must demonstrate a love and respect for children and understand the vital importance of social/emotional learning.  Substitutes must have a bachelor’s degree and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. The hourly rate for this position is $22.
