Welcome Kindergarten Teacher Megan Cramer

Megan Cramer

March 24, 2022 – We’re thrilled to announce that we have hired Megan Cramer as our new Kindergarten Teacher to take over from Cindy Brickley, who is retiring in June. Megan is a skilled and accomplished educator with many years of experience working with students ranging from preschool through high school. She will step into her new role at the start of the 2022-23 school year.

Megan worked as an environmental educator in a variety of roles, and she also served as a program director and youth development specialist at Bainbridge Island Boys and Girls Club. She recently returned to school to pursue her teaching certificate through Western Washington University. She may look familiar to some of you, as she completed her teaching practicum at The Island School last year, has served as a substitute teacher here and is the parent of a current first grader. Megan is completing her student teaching at Commodore Options School in the Bainbridge Island School District.

Megan impressed our hiring committee with her child-centered focus, her reflective nature and her love of The Island School. One of her references explained that Megan “has a gentle touch and obvious joy when speaking with children. She connects with them and listens closely. One thing I appreciate most about Megan is her ability to balance giving kind assistance with cultivating independence.”

We will plan a gathering this spring for Megan to meet incoming Kindergarten students and their families. In the meantime, please give Megan a warm welcome and congratulations!
